FALDO ON THE PRAIRIE

Nick Faldo, winner of six Major championships and the all-time leading Ryder Cup points scorer, has been crafting a new 18 hole golf course called Cottonwood Hills near Hutchinson, Kan.

Located within three miles of the world renowned Prairie Dunes Golf Club, and occupying similarly dramatic, sandy terrain, Cottonwood Hills is the three-time Masters and three-time British Open champion’s first design in the Midwest.

"This is an incredible piece of land," said Falsdo when awarded the project in 2003. "Faldo Design, is fortunate to have designed courses in some special places around the world, but this wonderfully natural and splendidly rugged site may eclipse them all. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us."

Cottonwood Hills will be operated as a high-end daily fee course. Faldo’s layout will be the centerpiece of a prestigious 582-acre mixed-use master planned community..

"It is great to know that this golf course will be open to the general public," said Faldo. "And it is both an honor and a challenge to be creating what we intend to be a Major championship standard golf course so close to storied Prairie Dunes, undoubtedly one of America’s finest courses."

Look for Cottonwood Hills to open in 2006.
