The Players Championship Betting Guide

Updated: Mar 15

Welcome back to the 2nd edition of the MGG Betting Guide this week, The Players. This is a huge tournament, dubbed the 5th major by golf fans and media alike. There will be 48 of the top 50 players in the field, as Brooks Koepka withdrew with a knee injury on Sunday. The name of the game at TPC Sawgrass is accuracy, with small greens and distance not being rewarded as much. As always, all plays will be taken from the Draftkings Sportsbook - sign up at this link - if you want to play along.

Round 1 Results: 1-3… -1.5 Units

Bad day all around, made worse with Morikawa blowing a 2 stroke lead to Bryson over the final 3 holes. It seemed like he was cruising to at least a 3 or 4 under day, until an uncharacteristic fairway wood into the drink on 16 set up 2 straight bogeys. Max played well, but couldn’t sink enough putts to keep up with Knox. Looking ahead to a better day 2, and getting our money back.

Round 2 Plays:

Jordan Spieth to card an Eagle: +550, 1 Unit... LOSS

Scottie Scheffler -136 over Henley (tie no bet… 1 Unit... WIN

Justin Thomas -117 over Cantlay… 1 Unit... WIN

Round 2 Update: +0.6 Units. 2-1, -0.9 total

We got a little back yesterday going 2-0 in matchups. Spieth didn't card the eagle while a ton of them were flying around the course yesterday. All 3 of our pre tourney finishing position bets ended up missing the cut, and Max Homa especially hurts as he went bogey-bogey-bogey to finish and found the water on 17 (8th hole of the day for him). The missed 5 footer on 7 ultimately did him in.

Round 3 Plays:

We're putting a unit on each of the highlighted plays. A win will knock +100 off of it, but still be able to have a nice net positive, and a 2/6 chance of winning with who I feel are the best golfers in those groups.

Round 3 Results: 2-0, +4.5 Units

Bryson, winner. +2.5 Units (-1 for Im)... +1.5 Units

Westwood, winner. +4 units (-1 for Fitz), +3 total

Great day Saturday getting 4.5 units back, bringing us to +3.6 on the weekend. No plays Sunday as I just enjoyed the tourney, congrats to JT! Overall Tourney plays went 0-4 for -4 units, so we netted out at -0.4 for the weekend, I guess we'll take it!

Best of luck! Let me know your plays in the comments! Will add/update my plays as the tournament goes along!
